to CIGNA Medicare Plans. Cigna offers both HMO and PFFS plans. The CIGNA Medicare
Select Plus RX or Access Plus RX. You make the choice. No matter what you decide,
you are still in the Medicare Advantage Program. The summary of benefits will
outline the plan details.
- Health Maintenance Organizations
HMO) - This type of plan uses a provider network of contracted doctor and
hospitals for services. They require you to choose a primary care physician (PCP)
and that doctor will provide referrals to specialists. Many will include part
D drug coverage as well. The plan will have co-pays for most services. The plans
offer urgent and emergent care when out of your service area while traveling.
- Private Fee for Service (PFFS) -This type of plan does
not use a provider network and you may access any doctor or hospital. The doctor
or hospital MUST be willing to except the terms and conditions of the insurance
carrier. They should not render services if they do not except the plan except
in emergency situations. The plan will have co-pays for most services. The plans
may include part D drug coverage. The plans offer urgent and emergent care when
out of your service area while traveling.
